It's no secret that I love entertaining and hosting family and friends in my home. I especially love decorating my space with attractive, stylish pieces to reflect the beauty of each season.
After a long, cold winter, it's time to brighten and freshen up my home decor with light, fun pieces to bring the feeling of spring indoors.
If you haven't started thinking about how to decorate your table for the spring brunches and Easter dinners you'll be hosting, now's your chance!
Today, I'm sharing my tried-and-true tips and tricks to decorate your table for spring. Spring decor can allow for such fun and whimsical colours and patterns, and I'm here to help inspire you to set your table with style this season.
Here are my top seven tips for the perfect spring table setting:
Add Pops of Pastel
When it comes to decorating your table for spring, light colours and patterns are best to create a fresh look reminiscent of the season. Look for decor in shades of pastels or bright, floral colours, and then make it "pop" by incorporating some clean, crisp white which could be your dishes or serving ware.
Try Layering
Creating layers on your table adds colour and depth, and keeps your table visually interesting. It's as simple as adding a light or pastel tablecloth, table runner, or placemats to your table. As a bonus, layers are a great way to protect your table and keep it looking brand new!
Get Creative with Centrepieces
Your centrepiece doesn't need to be a vase with flowers! Get creative with a bowl, box, or tray to fill with spring inspiration (which you may already have around the house). I found some great ideas this season on Pinterest and have been inspired to use a rectangular wooden box that I conveniently got at our store. I'm going to fill it with some greenery and/or little spring flowers in vases and some flameless candles. For a fun touch at Easter, I may even nestle some ceramic or chocolate eggs into the centrepiece and of course an Easter bunny for some whimsy.
Add an Extra Touch to Your Place Settings
Don't overlook the little touches in your decor! They're an easy way to add some spring colours and patterns to your table.
Napkins add a perfect pop of colour while also serving a practical role for your guests. Try pastels for a classic look, or mix and match different patterns to stay on trend.
Place cards are also making a comeback this season! To add a welcoming feel for your guests, add a place card with each name written in classic cursive writing to mark their seat at the table. If you're planning an Easter brunch or dinner, have some fun and write your guests' names on eggs and place them on each setting.
Have Fun with Florals
Classic spring flowers like daffodils and tulips are much easier to find at the florist this time of year. These blooms instantly say "spring" and bring life to any table. If you can't find fresh flowers, or would rather invest in something that will last, consider adding faux botanicals to your table decor.
For an added touch of freshness, you could add floral placemats or dishes to your table.
Add Some Whimsy
Spring is the perfect time to get creative and bring some whimsy to your table.
Add your favourite decorative object, or search for some vintage table decor from your childhood. For hosting Easter meals, add some fun with an adorable bunny or classic Easter eggs.
Create Warmth with Candles
Candles are a staple for any spring table! Candles create a beautiful glow and warmth that will complement all of your spring decor. Looking for a more traditional look? Try a tapered pair of candlesticks. Looking for a daintier option? Add a handful of tea lights or votive candles spread down the centre of the table.
