As the Fall weather sets in we begin to go indoors to find warmth and comfort. With this change in weather comes the season for gathering with family and friends, and it seems the ideal time to share some of my favourite tips for styling your Fall table to create a warm and inviting space:

Table Runner & Placemats

This year, there's been a noticeable shift towards embracing muted, natural colour palettes for styling. To infuse my own fall table with this cozy and inviting aesthetic, I opted for a delightful cream and beige table runner adorned with charming pumpkin embroidery. Beginning with a carefully chosen table runner is like laying the canvas for a beautiful masterpiece. It serves as the cornerstone of your tablescape, providing a foundation that can transform an ordinary dining space into a work of art. Additionally, don't underestimate the power of textured placemats; they play an equally crucial role in elevating the overall visual appeal of your fall table setting.

Bring The Outdoors In

Bring the outdoors in to highlight the beauty of autumn. You might feel inspired to use real pumpkins or gourds because they are so festive and rich in colour. This year I opted for ceramic because I want the table setting to last. Don’t think twice about mixing in faux botanicals like wheat or mini pumpkins or sprigs of basil like the ones I’ve used. Mixing real with faux can achieve a nice balance.

Touch Of Glamour

My table settings tend to be more casual and inviting since I live in cottage country but I still try to inject a touch of glamour with some accents. This year gold is particularly on-trend and this gold napkin ring adds some visual interest and a pop of metallic brightness.

Special Napkins

Always indulge in pretty napkins for the occasion. It makes your guests feel special. Choose a napkin that ties in with your colour palette.  We carry a beautiful selection of napkins at our store because it is a go-to for a table setting! You can fold the napkin and place it under the cutlery or, roll it and place it inside a decorative napkin ring. Or the newest trend is a textile napkin that you lay on top of your place setting.

White Ceramic Dishware

White ceramic dishware will work for all occasions and will complement any colour scheme. This white ceramic cylinder pattern is ideal for a cozy Fall dinner table, but can also be dressed up for more elegant occasions with the right centrepiece, cutlery and napkins. You can never go wrong with white dishware and it never goes out of style!

Candle Holders

Let me share why I have a soft spot for candlesticks when it comes to setting the dining table. They bring a certain timeless charm that's hard to replicate. My mother never sets a table with out candlesticks! They add height and layers to your table, giving it an extra dimension of visual appeal. And once those candles are lit, they create a cozy ambiance that can transform any meal into a truly special experience. They come in so many styles and finishes. This year I went with wooden ones for that more muted, organic vibe.

Fall Scented Candles

Your guests will appreciate an extra touch of coziness when you add a scented candle into the mix. Think pumpkin spice, cinnamon, apples, caramel – all those familiar fall scents that make you feel right at home. It's like the warmth you get when you're baking cookies – a fall-scented candle brings that same inviting vibe. By including one in your entertaining area, you're not just setting the scene, you're engaging all the senses.

Style Your Coffee Table

In addition to setting your dining table, don't overlook the opportunity to set the stage and warmly welcome your guests by adding some special touches to your coffee table. More often than not, your get-together will kick off with everyone gathering around the coffee table, making it the perfect place to establish the tone of the evening. Fortunately, it doesn't require much effort. A simple tray, a well-placed botanical, an engaging coffee table book, or a seasonal item like a pumpkin can work wonders, instantly transforming your coffee table into an inviting space for guests to sit, chat, and get into the spirit before the meal.
